............31/10

As good a night as could be hoped for at this late stage in the campaign with 9 moths of 8 species. Also a year tick in the shape of  a Rosy Rustic, quite late compared to last year's records. Low cloud, a still evening and a reletively high temperature could be the reason for this unexpected catch.

  1. Hi Matt, isn't mothing strange. I've had 270 Rosy Rustics this year and caught them on 39 occasions! One of my commonest species. Yet you are still getting Willow Beauty that i have not seen since August and I've only ever had one Pale Mottled Willow...

  2. You're quite right Stewart, you seem to be about a month ahead of me with most species. No one in VC30 has had even a sniff of a December Moth yet!
Turnip Moth was probably my commonest while they were out with regular counts of 20, a complete plague in a market gardening area- I did see you caught one too!

  3. Yes Matt, Turnip is scarce in the north of Northumbs but commoner in the south of the county. I've only had the one...
