Those wing markings suggest to me that you've got yourself something a lot more interesting than a September Thorn there.

Bill, you're absolutely right! I use Lepiforum E.V for ID's. This is in German and doesn't use vernacular names. I was looking at Large Thorn for my ID, thinking I was looking at the September Thorn- but so glad you commented.
