The Drabs cling on in this unseasonal weather. The only others were a Powdered Quaker and the usual visit from a Shuttle-shaped Dart.
A site dedicated to a homemade garden Moth Trap and the amazing contents found within. My interest was sparked in 2009 by my then 4 year old son, Louie. He and his sister Keely help me in the mornings, photographing and releasing the contents of this Bedfordshire trap. I hope you enjoy the Blog!

Muslin Extremist......09/05
No let up in the arctic temperatures. But extreme conditions allow only the hardiest of moths to venture forth. This Muslin Moth was joined by a single Garden Carpet and a Shuttle-shaped Dart.
The Von Trap Family......
Twin 25w Actinic FUL Trap
Production!
Production!
The trap arms race with Trent Duval (We are the Campions) continues as we welcome the prototype 50w (2x25w) FUL Skinner into the fold. I just wish the weather was a slightly more favourable for mothing! I did test 1 of the Actinic/UVs last night and even though temperatures plummeted to just 1°C, it still caught a few.........

..........08/05
The cold and wet weather continues. But outside the trap this Swallow Prominent created the night's only highlight and was new for the year. The only others were Hebrew Character- 2, a lone Shuttle-shaped Dart and a Muslin Moth.

The trap was more or less bare with just 2 shivering Hebrew Characters under the egg boxes as temperatures plunged close to zero. This Brown House-moth was much more sensible, choosing to spend the night indoors.........

Showing Character.....02/05
Hebrew Character
Mystery Catty??
Mystery Catty??
A horrible night with a stiff Northerly wind and temperatures dipping to just 3°C. There was also a bit of rain thrown in for good measure. However, this isn't enough to put off the hardy Hebrew Characters- 5 in all. This was it for the trap, the only other point of interest was this small stick like caterpillar around 35mm long.........
Looks like the larvae could be a Scalloped Oak- thanks to VC30 Moths
