Garden List 19/07.......

These days it's not that often that I get 2 brand new garden macro moths in a night. But despite the fact it was well below average for the time of year temperature wise, that's what happened. I also recorded a new micro as well.
Scalloped Hook-tip
These are apparently quite common- except in my garden.

 July Highflyer
Last year I caught 3 May Highflyers and no Julys. This year seems to be the other way round.

 888 Mompha propinquella
A garden 1st for this striking micro.

VC30 survey: Chicksands Wood......08/08

A really good night with perfect conditions for trapping. In the end 60 species of macro caught with many micros potted and taken away for analysis. Among the best were Twin-spotted Wainscot, Poplar Lutestring, Square-spotted Clay and many suspected Triple-spotted Pugs, if so a 2nd reliable site in Bedfordshire for this rare moth.

Flame Carpet
Many trapped on the night.

Common Carpet
As the name suggests..........Common!

July Highflyer
Again, many caught.

Dark-barred Twin-spot Carpet?
A probable, but can't be proven without gen check.
