Pretty poor of late generally. Strong NE winds and cooler night time temperatures have stifled progress. Also the breeding pair of Robins next door are stealing all moths that are not in the trap, so anything on the shed wall is eaten/taken to young before I see it. Worse still, Trent is streaking ahead in his Work-less Utopian bubble. At the last count, 14 species up and counting- so I've been sending his CV out to relevant companies in the hope of finding him a job. A night shift would be best, but anything would do. Trouble is, no-one seems to want him,......funny that.............

Spring.......06/04

........And after not bothering for a few days due to high winds, it seems that Spring has finally sprung. The recent high temperatures must of helped as I recorded 4 new moths for the year in one night. I logged a temp of 15°C at 8.00pm which is by far the highest so far.

A Prominent Display...19/05

A really good night last night, but not as warm as some areas of the country as temperatures still got down below 10°C. For the 1st time this year I reached over 20 species, with a couple of micros yet to be ID'ed. Unlike others (especially Ian G!) no Hawk Moths yet, though I'm extremely happy with 3 Prominent species.......

I think I would have recorded more if I had visited the traps a few times in the night.........but I was just too tired. I also think just using Actinic will never produce the hauls found by others......
