Mr & Mrs Ghost.........

Caught 9th and 7th July respectively. This is only the 2nd male I've trapped, for some reason the females are more frequent in the garden.

Recent Macro Highlights.......

I didn't do too much blogging in a 3 week period in Late June and early July. So here is a few highlights from that time.........

Single-dotted Wave

1st caught 25th June. 2 so far this year.

 Large Twin-spot carpet

Garden debut 25th June.

 Lesser-spotted Pinion

Only the 2nd ever record, 26th June.

NFY on 27th June. 2 caught this year.

 Bird's Wing

Again only the 2nd record. NFY 27th June.

 Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing

NFY, 4th July.

 Ghost Moth

NFY, 8th July. The 1st male I've ever seen.

 Purple Thorn

Only the 2nd record after 1 was caught in 2009. 8th July.

 Small Ranunculus

2nd record for this steadily increasing moth. Found on the house, nowhere near the trap.

Copper & Brass.....22/07

The cooler weather continues, but a new one in the shape of a Copper Underwing turned up to keep the list ticking over.

Copper Underwing

The crucial feature to distinguish from Svensson's is the definite line between the copper last 3rd and the paler straw coloured inner 2/3rds. Also the dark band is broken to form separate dots.

Burnished Brass

This is the f. juncta type.

Ghost Moth

Female- 2nd record.

Agriphila tristella (1305)

A grass moth species, this is now replacing the slightly smaller Crambus pascuella.

Recent Macros............

I just haven't been able to keep up with regular nightly posts on the blog with my usual species lists. However last night dipped to just 8°C so the count was well down. I potted a few new micros and had just 1 new Macro- a Ghost Moth!
